we are now seeking a top-quality policy and communications assistant who will work at the heart of the british embassy in lisbon, in its political and economic section.
as the policy and communications assistant, you will have the opportunity to work across the full spectrum of the uk’s policy priorities in portugal.
your focus will be providing support to the policy officer and the communications officer.
you will also provide some light-touch administrative support to the wider political and economic section.
demonstrating flexibility and adaptability will be important.
you will need to be able to work both autonomously and as part of a wider team, including with other sections of the embassy.
you will form part of a team of 12 colleagues working on issues including internal politics, economics, communications, energy, education, health and values.
you will be encouraged to contribute to the corporate life of the embassy, for example by joining one of the main staff committees (e.
.

our ideal candidate will have.
-proficiency in written and spoken english and portuguese (c1 level according to the common european framework of reference for languages).
-experience managing multiple competing tasks by demonstrating strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
-self-management skills with proven ability to manage, plan, and prioritise tasks and workload.
-good judgement, and experience of working proactively, independently and forward-planning.
-excellent communications skills, being able to analyse and present written, verbal and quantitative information clearly and concisely.
-a strong record of teamwork, with the ability to work collaboratively across the embassy.
-a desire to learn.
-strong it skills, particularly with microsoft office and microsoft teams.
