RESEARCH GRANT IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS, SECURITY, IOT

Summary There is an open call for one (1) Research Scholarship (“Bolsa de Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project ROBUST.

Work Objectives The objectives of the work include.
(i) Investigate privacy-by-design principles and privacy-preserving mechanisms; (ii) Investigate zero-trust architectures and principles, as well as data validation techniques, including adaptive trust management mechanisms.
The analysis of the proposed mechanisms will also consider energy efficiency aspects for deployment in resource-constrained IoT-based systems and devices, including mobile nodes (Android OS-based), as applicable.
Place of Work The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof.
Joaquim Manuel Camões Sobral de Bastos.
Duration 3 months, with the possibility of renewal.

Monthly Salary € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.

Admission Requirements Research grants are intended.
- for students enrolled in a degree-conferring course to carry out R&D activities with the aim to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree or completion of the course (integrated or not in R&D projects).
- for students enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree but which are integrated in an educational project of a higher education institution and are developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units.
Candidates must have a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
Expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, including zero-trust architectures and data validation, as well as privacy-preserving mechanisms and privacy-by-design principles, including differential privacy, multi-party computation, and federated learning, with a particular focus on IoT-based systems and distributed environments.
Proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience in Android software development, e.
.
using Kotlin, as well as in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
Strong self-motivation for scientific research, excellent proficiency in spoken and written English, and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
