COMPREHENSIVE ENERGY STUDY FOR BRITISH COLUMBIA - EST

Summary of proposed work The intention and ultimate goal of this study would be to provide decision makers with greater insight into the energy landscape of Northern Vancouver Island.
This will be accomplished by.
Conducting an energy audit of the current energy supply and consumption on Northern Vancouver Island and the Province of British Columbia.
Projecting future energy demand in the province.
Assessing the readiness of energy generation to meet future demands.
Offering strategic recommendations to ensure energy security and effective energy management for the North Island.
The findings of this study are intended to guide strategic decisions in energy planning and management for Northern Vancouver Island.
Geographic scope Northern Vancouver Island while considering implications arising from the rest of the province of British Columbia and the source of purchased energy, regardless of its origin.

Energy Audit (An assessment of the current energy supply and consumption on Northern Vancouver Island) Report will include.
-Review of existing local energy generation facilities, their capacities, and the amount of energy they currently produce.
-Analysis of the current proportions of different energy sources.
-Assessment of energy flows (imports/exports) between Northern Vancouver Island and the rest of the province and/or external sources.
-Identification of peak vs off-peak energy usage trends.
-Review of past energy consumption trends to calculate growth patterns.
-Review of past outages, reliability issues, and supply constraints.
-Assessment of current energy prices and any trends over recent years.

Energy Forecasting study (An assessment of the forecasted energy supply and consumption on Northern Vancouver Island) Report will include.
-Energy supply side projections at 5 years (), and 10 years () out.
-Energy demand side (consumption) projections at 5 years (), and 10 years () out.
-Demand side projections made under three differing potential scenarios (business as usual, accelerated growth, Low growth/increased energy efficiency).
-Review of forecasted energy pricing for consumers at these different time horizons and demand levels.

Future Energy Generation Readiness Assessment (An assessment of the capability of current energy generators to supply projected future demand on Northern Vancouver Island) Report will include.
-Comparison of energy supply projections and energy demand forecasts to assess the capability of current infrastructure to satisfy future demand.
-Consideration of energy storage capacity, such as batteries or pumped hydro storage to manage demand fluctuations and supply from intermittent renewables.
-Consideration of planned energy projects to add supply to the market.
-Consideration of externally obtained and purchased energy to supplement potential supply deficits.

Recommendations Based on the findings from the energy audit, forecasting study, and readiness assessment, recommendations shall provide.
-Data-derived suggestions on which energy projects to proceed with supporting/consider shuttering on the North Island.
-Additional strategies to consider utilizing to ensure reliable, resilient, and affordable energy for the residents, businesses, and services of northern Vancouver Island.
-Evaluation of potential new energy projects, their expected contributions to the overall energy supply, and their financial implications.

-Utilities data will be utilized and is all open source.
Project completion date.
-A first draft must be prepared and delivered by December .
Feedback will be provided, and completion will be assessed based on the outlined deliverables.
-The study must be finalized, and the final copy delivered by December .
