Project Overview.
We are seeking a creative and skilled graphic designer to create designs for a clothing merchandise collection inspired by the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, its surroundings, and the broader Cape Breton region of Nova Scotia.
These designs will be printed on clothing such as T-shirts, hoodies, and hats, intended for tourists visiting the Fortress and the beautiful Cape Breton area.
The designs should reflect the region’s rich history, cultural landmarks, and natural beauty, while also appealing to tourists looking for stylish, everyday wear that captures the essence of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and Canada.
In addition, we are looking for a designer with the vision and versatility to expand future collections to include other Canadian heritage sites, with designs that showcase historical landmarks and iconic animals of regional significance.
Key Responsibilities.
Design a collection of clothing graphics that incorporate elements of the Fortress of Louisbourg, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and Canadian heritage.
Create designs that feature animals of regional significance, such as the Eastern Moose, Atlantic Puffin, or other iconic wildlife relevant to the area.
Draw inspiration from historical elements (e.
., the Fortress’ architecture, cannons, maritime heritage) and the natural landscape of Cape Breton.
Ensure designs are appealing to tourists of all ages, blending cultural history with modern, wearable styles.
As the project expands, create additional designs that represent other Canadian heritage sites and their respective iconic animals.
Work with our team to understand brand guidelines and preferences, while bringing your unique creativity to the project.
Skills and Experience.
Proven experience in graphic design, especially in apparel design or merchandise creation.
Strong portfolio showcasing creative designs for clothing or tourism-related products.
Ability to design in a style that is both modern and relevant to historical, cultural, and natural themes.
Experience incorporating wildlife and regional animals into graphic designs.
Knowledge of print techniques and how to optimize designs for various fabrics and clothing types.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
Understanding of trends in souvenir and tourist merchandise design.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with the marketing team and ensure the designs align with the vision for the brand.
Project Timeline.
The project will start with the Fortress of Louisbourg collection, with the potential to expand to other Canadian heritage sites and wildlife designs as part of a growing merchandise line.
We’re looking for a designer who can start soon and deliver the final designs for the Fortress collection, with ongoing work for future collections.
Budget.
We are open to proposals based on designer experience and scope of work.
