Position Description.
CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Network Detection and Response (NDR) Tools Engineer.
This opportunity will support a dynamic, fast-paced and energetic project focused on improving federal cybersecurity at civilian agencies.
The NDR tools engineer will play a key role in enhancing the cyber security posture of numerous government agencies by implementing, administering, and maintaining Corelight and ExtraHop in a cloud hosted shared service platform to protect agency networks and data.
This role involves working closely with Agency teams to ensure robust security measures are in place and effectively managed.
You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain Corelight and ExtraHop in a secure cloud environment • Support integration of Corelight and Extrahop data with other applications as needed • Work with service delivery teams to configure Corelight and Extrahop for tenant agencies.
• Provide network engineering support and troubleshooting as it relates to Corelight and Extrahop integration.
• Follow and perform ITIL Incident, problem and requirements management • Work with the Solution Architect to design and implement solutions that address customer constituency’s needs.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to network security using tools like Wireshark or TCPDump.
Provide support for incident response activities.
• Implement monitoring solutions to detect and respond to potential security threats.
Optimize system performance through regular reviews.
• Work with cross-functional teams including network engineers, security analysts, and developers to integrate security solutions into the overall IT infrastructure.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
• Due to the nature of the contract requirements, US citizenship and successful passing of CGI background check is required prior to beginning work.
In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years’ work Experience as a Network/System Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL and Security Administration experience.
Authentication, Certificate system, etc.
• Ideal candidate can mentor, teach and grow to support growing customer requirements • Must have great communication and documentation skills Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required.
• Ability to work with Engineering and Operations Teams • Understanding of NDR concepts; A general understanding and/or experience in Managed Service(s) • Technical/development background • Experience with CISA’s Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program • Security relevant certification, such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, Security+, CEH.
• Strong communication skills and a solid understanding of IT Security concepts to include vulnerability & patch management, security operations, Incident Management and Incident response.
• The candidate must be able to work with other team members and groups, work with competing priorities, and possess strong customer focus.
• Understanding of federal cybersecurity guidance such as NIST SP - Guide for Applying the Risk Management Framework to Federal Information Systems.
