About the Position.
We are seeking experienced Proofreaders to be responsible for checking translated documents against the original, identifying, correcting, and ruling out grammar, sentence structure, capitalization and use of tenses, text length, spelling, punctuation, typos, formatting, contextual consistency, visual consistency, facts, terminology, abbreviations, inappropriate words and phrases, or other possible errors in the translation before delivering the final version to the client.
This is an opportunity to work remotely.
You must have a computer, high speed internet and an area to work free of background noise.
Responsibilities.
· Comply with The Spanish Group Proofreading Guidelines and Procedures · Proofread target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.
· Ensure project is Translated into the target language.
· Ensure customer´s requirements/instructions.
· Ensure syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks, and other orthographical conventions.
· Ensure accurate lexical cohesion and phraseology.
· Ensure that names, dates, facts, and details are consistent throughout the Translation Project.
· Check quoted material for accuracy of form and wording.
· Check factual accuracy (dates, names, places, etc.) · Ensure project mirrors the format of the source document (including codes, images, seals, logos, fiscal stamps, signatures, tags, etc.).
· Comply with The Spanish Group Style guide (TSG Standard).
· Ensure consistency of translation within documents and help efficiency.
· Correct any errors found in the target language content or recommend the corrections to be implemented by the translator.
· Where the proofreading reveals defects, make corrections and provide feedback to Translator(s) according to TSG procedures.
· Meet proofreading deadlines · Deliver projects by the agreed-upon deadline.
· Comply and ensure all procedures and guidelines related to document management such as folders and subfolders, folder tags, urgent/late folders, abbreviations on the names of the folders, etc.
· Comply and ensure all procedures and guidelines when working on an incomplete folder or with too many formatting/translations mistakes.
· Prioritize UR, Apostille, Sworn and VIP orders.
· Certify translated files according to procedures.
· Work on orders that require credential evaluation or currency conversions.
· Resolve and respond to complaints appropriately.
· Involve customer service agent when applicable.
· Comply and ensure the process for delivering files to customers.
· Comply and ensure all procedures and guidelines related to document management such as folders and subfolders, folder tags, urgent/late folders, abbreviations on the names of the folders, etc.
· Comply and ensure all procedures and guidelines when working on an incomplete folder.
· Ensure work time is recorded/tracked accurately by the system/app provided by the Company, including the beginning, and ending time of lunch breaks.

Qualifications.
· Meet at least one of the following criteria.
Has obtained a degree in translation, linguistics or language studies or an equivalent degree that includes significant translation training, from a recognized institution of higher education.
Has obtained a degree in any other field from a recognized institution of higher education and has the equivalent of 2+ years of full-time professional experience in translating and/or proofreading.
Has the equivalent of five years of full-time professional experience in translating and/or proofreading.
· Fluently Bilingual.
Demonstrate an outstanding level of fluency in both English and another language (written and spoken).
· Demonstrate an outstanding level of fluency in English (written and spoken).
· Demonstrate an outstanding level of fluency of a third language as a plus.
· Knowledge of translation and proofreading process, terminology, technique and standards.
· Excellent translation, writing, and communication skills.
· Ability to work under tight deadlines.
· Must.
be a creative and strategic thinker, have exceptional attention to details, be highly organized, be highly methodical, be a strong team player, be able to multitask and handle multiple simultaneous projects, have exceptional problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and proactive, and display composure under stress.
· Experience in the translation or localization industry is a plus.

· Proficiency in MS Office Suite · Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro · Proficiency in Adobe InDesign as a plus · Ability to work under tight deadlines · Good sense of organization and keep attention to detail · Excellent time management skills.
