Job Description: We are looking for an experienced and driven MS SQL Application DBA to manage, optimize, and tune all activities in MS SQL databases. In this role, you will work closely with development teams to ensure that databases perform optimally in relation to the applications that interact with them. You have extensive experience in SQL query optimization and are aware of the impact of database performance on application behavior. Additionally, you will be responsible for applying data retention policies and ensuring proper database auditing to meet compliance and security standards. You will act as the primary link between various infrastructure teams, including the MS SQL Infra DBA team, ensuring that the MS SQL database is optimally configured for all application interactions. Key Responsibilities: Database Management and Structure: Manage MS SQL databases, including designing, implementing, and maintaining database structures, tables, indexes, and other elements. Database Performance Optimization: Work with development teams to optimize database performance in relation to applications. Query Optimization: Identify slow queries and optimize SQL statements to improve performance. Index Management: Analyze and adjust indexing strategies for faster interactions between applications and databases. Data Retention and Auditing: Implement and enforce data retention policies according to regulations and organizational requirements. Ensure proper database auditing processes are in place to record security and compliance activities. Data Integration and Handling: Work with large data sets, set up ETL processes, and ensure smooth data integration between systems. Switching Between Development Teams: Act as a technical point of contact between database infrastructure and development teams. Backups and Recovery: Strong interaction with the Infrastructure DBA team, responsible for backups and recovery strategies. Monitoring and Reporting: Perform continuous monitoring and identify performance issues. Implement proactive solutions. Security and Compliance: Ensure secure access and compliance with data privacy regulations, including GDPR. Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or similar role. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server and T-SQL. Experience in SQL query optimization and performance management. Expertise in indexing strategies and database design. Knowledge of ETL processes and data handling. Experience with database auditing and logging. Understanding of database security regulations and data privacy. Soft Skills: Strong communication skills to interact with non-technical stakeholders. Proactive problem-solving attitude and analytical thinking ability. Team player focused on long-term quality and stability. Languages and Travel: Fluency in English is required. Good knowledge of French is recommended to interact with French client teams. Availability to occasionally travel to the client location in Paris.
