Position Description A DB2 Admin L2 (Level 2) typically handles more advanced tasks and provides support for complex issues that cannot be resolved by Level 1 support.
Here are some common responsibilities and requirements for this role.
Responsibilities.
• Database Management.
Install, configure, and maintain DB2 databases.
• Performance Tuning.
Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure efficient operation.
• Backup and Recovery.
Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures to protect data.
• Security.
Ensure database security by managing access permissions and implementing encryption.
• Troubleshooting.
Diagnose and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks and errors.
• Documentation.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.
• Capacity Planning.
Plan for future database growth and scalability.
• Technical Support.
Provide advanced support for database-related issues and collaborate with other IT teams.
Requirements.
• Experience.
4+ years of hands-on experience with IBM DB2 database administration.
• Skills.
Proficiency in SQL, JCL, Perl, and shell scripting.
Experience with DB2 diagnostic tools and performance tuning.
• Knowledge.
Strong understanding of database security, backup and recovery, and capacity planning.
• Education.
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is often preferred.
• Certifications.
Relevant certifications in DB2 or database administration can be advantageous.
