DATA ARCHITECT

Position Description.
CGI is seeking a skilled Data Architect! As a Data Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our data infrastructure.
You will be responsible for the strategic migration of our data warehouse from on-premises to Azure and/or Snowflake, ensuring a seamless transition and optimization of our data assets.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, cloud technologies, and a deep understanding of Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake.
• This position is located at the client site in Alexandria, VA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities.
Duties and responsibilities • Lead the migration of our on-premises data warehouse, ensuring data integrity and a seamless transition while optimizing for data models, data storage, performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Design data architecture required changes to existing pipelines to/from data source systems.
• Leverage your in-depth knowledge of Snowflake and Azure data services, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and others, to architect and implement robust data solutions.
• Optimize data pipelines and ETL processes for performance and reliability, regularly monitoring and improving data systems and processes.
• Develop and enforce data modeling, data governance, and data management standards while ensuring data security and compliance with industry regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, providing guidance and recommendations for data-related decisions.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
• Bachelor’s degree in data engineering, data science, information technology or a related field.
• Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer certification is required.
• SnowPro® Advanced Architect certification is required.
• Proven experience as a Data Architect, with a focus on data warehouse migration.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques and the ability to leverage common data models to build analytics from systems like Salesforce, NetSuite, and Adobe.
• In-depth understanding of Azure services, networking, security, and identity management.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture patterns, best practices, and cost optimization strategies.
• Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms • Microsoft Fabric Analystics Engineer certification REQUIRED.
• SnowPro Advanced Architct certification REQUIRED.
