SR. BIG DATA/JAVA DEVELOPER

Position Description.
This role is hybrid and requires you to be in our downtown Toronto office (250 Yonge Street) 2-3 times per week - subject to change at any time.
This is a newly created position working on our regulatory project - RM (Risk Modernization), under GFT Programs.
The primary focus of this role is to provide re-engineering expertise, covering design, implementation and support of the RM data pipeline applications, namely Aggregation of Market Risk and Market Data Shocks and Scenarios generation.
Additional focus will be to work with other internal application development teams.
Your future duties and responsibilities.
A technical expert in developing, coding, testing and debugging new software or making significant improvements to existing software.
Experience and expertise must be significant to support the software design phases.
Could be responsible for overall design, development and team coordination on the business system/application.
Significant independent judgment is to be used and will be expected to act as a technical leader on projects.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
Must Have.
• 5+ years application development experience in Hadoop, Spark and Java/Scala.
• 10+ years application development experience in Java and Spring Framework • 5+ years in developing and optimizing Big Data applications using Java/Scala and Spark on Cloudera/HDP.
• Experience in developing/designing micro-service architecture.
• Extensive experience in one of the cloud providers AWS/Azure and migrating large scale complex projects from on-prem to Cloud including in-between hybrid options • Proven hands-on experience in containerization – Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift etc.
• Experience in developing applications in Spring & Spring Boot • Programming experience in Python (2+ years) • Working knowledge of Jenkins CI, Git, CI/CD pipelines • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders – business and technical Nice to Have • Experience in building end to end data pipelines on AWS/Azure and/or Databricks • Knowledge in Market Risk/Capital Markets/Banking.
