This Senior Test Automation Engineer position involves working on client site in Newcastle.
This is a client facing hybrid working role where on-site meetings can be expected on a regular basis.
All applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) to Security Check (SC) level as a minimum.
Your future duties and responsibilities.
We are looking for an experienced Test Automator for our Government and Justice client in a high-profile project to develop a new case management system and front facing digital services.
You will be responsible for the Testers across two scrum teams.
Utilising your strong communication skills, you will lead from the front ensuring knowledge transfer from the outgoing Quality Assurance Testers on the 5 sites to the new CGI resources providing clear reporting on progress and risks identified.
You will quickly get up to speed with the clients’ working practices and instructions, identify ways to optimise and collaborate directly with the client resources throughout the transition period.
Duties in this role will include the creation and execution of test strategies and plans in relation to the transition and hands on approach to ensuring a smooth transition.
The client has a test environment, platform and a clearly defined set of rules and reference guides for how they conduct testing.
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
• Accountable for identification, collection, analysis and reporting on meaningful test metrics and proactively use those metrics across projects through the migration • Provide input for test status reports for the project including forecasting and managing the project status as per the plan • Own overall Test Strategy with the testing process including tools usage and finalises test methodology for the migration • Lead defect triage meetings ensuring correct priority and severity levels are assigned • Continually apply the software testing practices, concepts and principles throughout software development life cycle • Escalate to project or program managers as required to expedite outstanding issues, concerns with regards to quality, milestones and mitigate risks when necessary Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
We are seeking a highly skilled Test Automation professional with a proven track record in leading testing efforts across complex projects.
You will demonstrate expertise in creating and executing test strategies, managing test tools and methodologies, and ensuring seamless collaboration with stakeholders.
Your strong leadership and communication abilities will support the delivery of quality solutions, while your experience in automation testing and risk management will be critical to project success.
Experience with Central Government projects is highly desirable.
• Proven expertise in Test Automation, including creating and executing test strategies and plans.
• Strong leadership skills, overseeing testers across multiple scrum teams and ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
• Proficient in analysing and reporting meaningful test metrics to drive project improvements.
• Skilled in defect triage, prioritisation, and applying robust risk management approaches.
• Experience with automated testing for front-facing digital services; Central Government experience is a plus.
