RESEARCH INITIATION GRANT ON TRANSISTOR MODELING AND OPERATION UNDERSTANDING

Summary There is an open call for one (1) Research Initiation Grant (“Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project Joint-Lab-RD8.
Work Objectives Within the scope of a collaboration project with an international company, the detailed behavior and operation principle of high frequency transistors is being studied, with the use of physics-based simulation on a dedicated simulation software.
This work involves the definition and execution of various simulations, for which the contribution of a young researcher is considered, also serving the purpose of introducing this researcher to this area of research.
Place of Work The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof.
Telmo Reis Cunha.
Duration 6 months, with the possibility of renewal.
This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 1 year.

Monthly Salary € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.

Admission Requirements Research Initiation Grants are intended.
- for students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, undergraduate degree, integrated master's degree or master's degree, to undertake initial R&D activities, with a view to beginning their scientific training through integration in R&D projects to be developed in national institutions.
- for students carrying out initial R&D activities who are enrolled in non-degree courses integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
Candidates must be enrolled in a higher professional technical course, a bachelor's degree, an integrated master's or a master's degree in the areas of Electrical Engineering or in Physics, with a good background on basic electronics, especially on understanding the constitution and overall behavior of active devices, like transistors or diodes.
The candidate must also demonstrate a good level of English language (both in speaking and in writing).
The candidates must present certificates of their current enrolment in the 1st cycle degree, and also the list of grades of the courses that they have completed.
