#characterisation #TEM #SEM # electronmicroscopy   Overview INL is seeking an Electron Microscopist to join the Advanced Electron Microscopy, Imaging and Spectroscopy Facility (AEMIS) to work on the characterisation of Life Sciences and Materials Science samples mainly by using conventional electron microscopy (TEM and SEM), but also by aberration-corrected electron microscopy.
Job Duties The job duties will be the following.
Provide daily maintenance, support to users and training in a JEOL JEM TEM/STEM; Provide daily maintenance, support to users and training in a FEI Quanta 650 FEG SEM; Provide daily maintenance, support to users and training in a Thermo Scientific Glacios CryoTEM; Train new users in electron microscopy sample preparation as well as in the corresponding support tools (e.
., sputter coater/evaporator, microtome, plunge freezer, critical point dryer); Provide characterisation services for internal and external users.
Mandatory Qualifications   Education MSc Degree in Science or E ngineering.
Experience and Technical Skills Experience with TEM and SEM imaging; Experience with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDXS); Experience with electron microscopy sample preparation techniques; Experience with image processing and standard software for electron microscopy.
Deep knowledge, as well as hands-on experience, in electron microscopy, including sample preparation, data acquisition, data analysis/treatment and report of results; Electron microscopes troubleshooting ability.
Other Skills Hands-on experience in life sciences sample preparation is a plus; Hands-on experience with aberration-corrected microscopes is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications PhD in Science or Engineering.
Personal Skills Service oriented electron microscopy characterisation; Ability to work independently and as team player; Good communication skills; High commitment in respecting working deadlines.
