RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT LEAD RESEARCHER - SUSTAINABLE HYDROGEN ECONOMY

HyLab’s final goal is to create a worldwide reference Research, Development and Innovation (R&D+I) cluster with a strategic agenda focused on strengthening hydrogen competitiveness and creation of new products and services.
Moreover, the HyLab will foster innovation, addressing the relevant supply chain components to enable a hydrogen-driven economy and to promote skilled and value-added job creation.
It targets a gap between the academia and industrial ecosystems regarding the implementation of green hydrogen to boost the energy transition and to tackle its challenges, through the entire hydrogen value chain.
The HyLab involves valuable national and international R&D institutes, academia, industry companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and hydrogen-related technology manufacturing industries.
We are looking for a Lead Researcher who will have the mission to coordinate the Sustainable Hydrogen Economy R&D and Innovation Line which has the main goal of boosting the competitiveness of H2 through the use and development of tools for assessing the economic, environmental and social impact of the H2 value chain, modeling of energy prospective transition scenarios and developing new business models within the H2 economy.
The Lead researcher will report to the Executive Director.
You will be challenged with.
Coordinate the Research and Innovation Line and the respective team within the scientific-technological area; Monitoring and guidance of the team members (research fellows, students, and trainees), guaranteeing the quality of the technical-scientific work produced, and compliance with deadlines and budget; Ensure the dissemination and transfer of knowledge to other members of the organization, with particular attention to the economic exploitation of R&I results; Boost the production of new technology developments and technical-scientific knowledge aimed to be exploited and disseminated (patents, articles, books, conferences); Collaborate with HyLab’s Management and Scientific Coordination, in the report of the activities, refinement of the Research and Innovation Agenda, and proposing new strategic development initiatives Design Research, Development, and Innovation programs and translate them into projects, proposals and funding applications (with the support of the business development area) Act with a high level of autonomy and decision-making alongside partners and clients, capturing development opportunities and strategic partners Perform research, development, and innovation activities, as well as all other scientific and technical activities within the HyLab mission; Collaborate with adjacent Lines of Research and Innovation within HyLab; Who are we looking for.
PhD in Environment Engineering, Chemistry Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Economics.
+5 years of research experience and +3 as Research Project Manager.
Ability to coordinate a multidisciplinary team (Energy, Environment, Economics, and Digital) Professional with a broad understanding of the energy sector (trends, market, policies, competitive factors of the different energy sources and carriers) Proficiency in energy simulation models, sustainability assessment methodologies and multi-criteria decision support Experience in the use of software for energy system modelling (such as TIMES) and Life Cycle Assessment (such as SIMAPRO) is plus.
English proficiency level C1.
