We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer & Architect to join our Digital team as an Enginering Lead.
In this role, you will be accountable for the quality of software design and implementation, thought leadership within our developer community, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Your future duties and responsibilities.
• Lead Technical Design.
Own the overall technical design of one or more digital platforms, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, security, performance and scalability.
• Hands-On Development.
Lead by example by writing reference code and pair programming with the development team.
Promote the use of DRY principles, refactoring strategies, test driven techniques, and encourage a mindset of continuous improvement and ownership amongst team members.
• Technical Roadmap.
Drive the technical roadmap of the platform, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Collaboration.
Work closely with senior developers, Application Security, and Architecture teams to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions.
• Project Planning.
Plan the implementation of complex applications with multiple components.
• Sustainable Development.
Be accountable for maintaining a sustainable development velocity.
• Security Practices.
Promote secure development practices and security awareness within the development team - with a shift-left focus.
• Documentation.
Ensure adequate documentation of solutions for operational acceptance and future development.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
• Technical Expertise.
Senior object-oriented developer/architect with significant experience in Java and JavaScript.
• Architectural Knowledge.
Experience in Microservices architecture, Domain Driven Design, and API Design.
• Test-Driven Development.
Demonstrable test-driven mindset and familiarity with test engineering.
• Communication Skills.
bility to effectively communicate complex technical designs to both senior leaders and software development teams.
• Engineering Best Practices.
Deep understanding of build processes, engineering best practices and methodologies, including modern declarative CI/CD with use of declarative languages and templating for application pipelines, DevSecOps approaches and cloud development.
• Business Acumen.
Commercial acumen to support business cases and inform key design decisions.
• Leadership Experience.
Experienced in a technical leadership role in Agile projects.
• Self-Motivation.
Self-starter and independent worker able to organize their time across multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
• Container management.
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.
., Docker, Kubernetes).
