Hybrid proactive and adaptable Production Support Specialist with experience in Unix, PL/SQL, and Mainframe technologies.
The ideal candidate will possess a mix of technical skills, including JCL, MVS Cobol, DB2, and a strong background in supporting online systems.
This role involves both production support and occasional development work.
Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with clients, producing design documentation, and participating in incident triage.
Your future duties and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities.
Provide production support for online systems, resolving issues efficiently and ensuring system availability.
Perform occasional development work to improve or enhance production applications.
Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide timely updates on incidents or project progress.
Participate in incident triage calls, coordinating with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues.
Maintain documentation for system design, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues across Unix, PL/SQL, JCL, MVS Cobol, and DB2 environments.
Provide on-call support as needed to ensure 24/7 system uptime.
Communicate clearly and effectively via both written and verbal communication, ensuring accurate reporting and follow-up.
Required Skills and Experience.
Strong experience in Unix and PL/SQL with a solid understanding of production support processes.
Working knowledge of Mainframe technologies at a junior to intermediate level, including JCL, MVS Cobol, and DB2.
Experience supporting online systems with occasional development work.
Proven experience in production support and on-call responsibilities, managing urgent incidents and service interruptions.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to produce clear design documentation.
Prior experience attending and participating in Incident Triage calls, effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
Ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions for production problems in a timely manner.
Desirable Skills.
Experience in client-facing roles with direct interaction to understand and resolve technical challenges.
Familiarity with incident management tools and processes.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role.
Good experience in Unix PLSQ and support activities.
Mainframe Knowledge (Junior to Intermediate).
