DESKTOP ENGINEER

Position Description.
Job Summary.
The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of desktop systems and related infrastructure.
This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing technical support to end-users, and ensuring that desktop environments are secure and efficient.
Key Responsibilities.
• Desktop Support.
Provide technical support for desktop environments, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and resolving user problems efficiently.
• System Configuration.
Configure and deploy desktop systems, ensuring they meet organizational standards and security protocols.
• User Management.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory or similar systems.
• Software Deployment.
Utilize tools like SCCM, Intune, or similar for software deployment, updates, and patch management.
• Documentation.
Create and maintain documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Security.
Implement and maintain security policies for desktop environments, including antivirus and endpoint protection.
• Collaboration.
Work closely with IT teams to support infrastructure projects and initiatives.
• Training.
Provide training and support to end-users on new technologies and software applications.
Qualifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in a desktop support or engineering role.
• Proficiency in Windows operating systems, along with a solid understanding of network protocols.
• Experience with remote desktop tools and troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and IT security practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified.
Modern Desktop Administrator, or similar.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.
., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Familiarity with scripting languages for automation (e.
., PowerShell).
