Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; Proven experience in software development using COBOL in professional environments; Proficiency in COBOL programming language, including fundamental concepts, control structures, file manipulation, and database interaction; Familiarity with mainframe environments, including operating systems such as z/OS, z/VM, and database management systems like DB2; Experience in integrating COBOL-based legacy systems with modern systems, using integration technologies such as APIs, messaging, or web services; Ability to maintain, debug, and modernize legacy systems written in COBOL, preserving existing functionality and introducing enhancements as needed; Capacity to identify and resolve complex issues in COBOL systems, including logic errors, performance problems, and integration with other parts of the system; Willingness to learn new technologies and development methods, as well as adapt to changes in project requirements and technology stack.
